Conforto was demoted after hitting .222 with 10 homers through 65 games with New York, but then hit .344 with three homers in 16 games with Triple-A Las Vegas. The Mets sent down prospect Brandon Nimmo in a corresponding move after the 23-year-old batted .235 in 16 major league games. Steven Matz (7-5, 3.38) is up for the Mets against Jon Lester (9-4, 3.01), who allowed a season-high eight runs in a career-low 1 1/3 innings in his other start against New York this season.STUMBLING CHISOXAce Chris Sale (14-3, 3.38) and the Chicago White Sox look to rebound against the Mariners.
