But the Redskins want him to run with more power at the end of his runs; he has admitted that he sometimes stutter-steps too much and loses power. One aspect that will help Jones: blocking from tight ends. White instead stayed put, and the Texans picked off Cutlers errant pass, a play that altered Sundays?game, which Chicago ended up losing. White has endured a difficult stretch. The seventh overall choice of the 2015 NFL draft, White sat out all of last season, had a quiet preseason until the exhibition finale and injured a hamstring in practice that hurt his preparation for the game with the Texans. The Bears need White to bounce back, and in a big way. Cutler has chemistry with Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal, but the quarterback and White are still trying to get on the same page. -- Jeff DickersonNext game:?vs. Eagles, Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPNDetroit LionsQuarterback?Matthew Stafford did it again with a new-look offense and no Calvin Johnson. Hill threw for 236 yards in the Vikings win over the Titans on Sunday, but after the Vikings traded a first-round pick and a conditional 2018 fourth-rounder for Bradford, their plan was to make Bradford the starter before too long. But the bigger concern for Carolina has to be the accumulation of hits Newton has taken over his first five seasons and one game, and whether the game plan needs to be adjusted so the 2015 NFL MVP takes fewer hits. Newton was hit 17 times against the Broncos while rushing or passing. Much will be made of what happens during the national anthem, but Kellys effect on the offense and how that group fares in the new scheme will determine how the Kelly regime begins. -- Nick WagonerNext game: at Panthers, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETSeattle SeahawksIt was not a pretty performance, but Russell Wilson engineered a 14-play, 75-yard drive down the stretch to give the Seahawks the victory over the Dolphins. In the third quarter, Wilson was sacked by Ndamukong Suh and suffered an ankle injury. He didnt miss any snaps and said hell be ready to go for next week. But whether Wilson is 100 percent is another story. Were going to look at it, Pete Carroll said. Specifically, his third-and-15 throw to Danny Amendola, in which he initially kept the play alive with his feet before spotting Amendola down the field, was clutch. The Jets travel to play?the Bills on Thursday, and Revis will face Sammy Watkins, who torched New York in Week 17 last season with 11 catches for 136 yards. -- Rich CiminiNext game:?at Bills, Thursday, 8:25 p.m. ETAFC NORTHBaltimore RavensJust like the old days, the Ravens defense carried the team to victory. Playing surprisingly faster than Tyrod Taylor and LeSean McCoy, the Ravens held Buffalo to 160 yards of total offense -- the fewest Baltimore has allowed in five years. The Ravens sealed the win by not allowing a first down in the fourth quarter. The difference was in the secondary, where Shareece Wright (11 tackles) was the Ravens best defender, and Eric Weddle and Lardarius Webb upgraded the safety position. Today was a glimpse of what we can become, Weddle said. -- Jamison HensleyNext game: at Browns, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETCincinnati BengalsThe Bengals had questions about their receiver group after the departures of Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones, but A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell combined for 271 receiving yards against the Jets and proved that the Bengals offense is still a force to be reckoned with. The Bengals, however, gave up?seven sacks, and the lack of running game -- they averaged just 3.0 yards per carry -- is a concern as they head into Week 2 against the Steelers. -- Katherine TerrellNext game:?at Steelers, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETCleveland BrownsMore tests will be conducted this week on the left shoulder injury of Robert Griffin III, who said he had a sprained shoulder resulting from a late hit in the Browns season-opening loss to the Eagles. The Cleveland quarterback was 12-of-26 passing for 190 yards with no touchdowns and one interceptions against Philadelphia, and he was outplayed by the rookie signal-caller?that the Browns could have drafted. -- Pat McManamonNext game: vs. Ravens, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETPittsburgh SteelersThe Steelers have arrived in Maryland for Monday Night Football, and they brought four active receivers with them. One is Antonio Brown, and the others combined for 22 catches last season. The loss of Markus Wheaton?(shoulder) leaves the Steelers thin at receiver, but young options Sammie Coates and Eli Rogers are eager to fill the void. Darrius Heyward-Bey will likely start the matchup with the Redskins as the No. 2 receiver. -- Jeremy FowlerNext game:?vs. Bengals, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETAFC SOUTHHouston TexansOffseason additions on offense -- quarterback Brock Osweiler, running back Lamar Miller and receiver Will Fuller -- showed on Sunday what the Texans were going for when they retooled their offense after last season. The Texans had eight different players catch a pass, and coach Bill OBrien said he thought Osweiler had poise during the game and ran the offense well. The Texans split passes and rushing attempts evenly, which is something they hope they can continue this season for a well-balanced offense. -- Sarah BarshopNext game:?vs. Chiefs, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETIndianapolis ColtsA slow start ruined quarterback Andrew Lucks return on Sunday. Luck threw for 385 yards, four touchdowns and didnt commit a turnover, but the Colts didnt have enough to pull off the victory after falling behind 21-3. Tired of talking about slow starts and tired of being a part of slow starts, Luck said. Disappointed in myself for being a part of a slow start. -- Mike WellsNext game:?at Broncos, Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ETJacksonville JaguarsThe Jaguars pass rush had a frustrating day against Packers quarterback?Aaron Rodgers, getting to him only once. Rodgers was able to evade the rush and made several big plays while out of the pocket, which was something the team had devised a game plan for all week. There wasnt much pressure off the edge from Dante Fowler Jr.?or?Yannick Ngakoue, and that will be an issue this week in San Diego against Philip Rivers. Rivers has destroyed the Jaguars in six career games, throwing for 1,899 yards and 15 touchdown passes, with only four interceptions. Rivers has 677 yards and seven touchdowns, with no interceptions, in his past two games against the Jaguars. -- Mike DiRoccoNext game:?at Chargers, Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ETTennessee TitansTwo offensive stars made the gaffes that killed the Titans?on opening day. Quarterback Marcus Mariotas interception turned into a 77-yard interception return, and he and running back DeMarco Murray combined to botch a handoff that resulted in a 24-yard fumble return for a score. Murray had a fumble of his own. The two will need to play far cleaner in order for the Titans to get better results. They wont beat good teams with three giveaways. -- Paul KuharskyNext game:?at Lions, Sunday, 1 p.m. ETAFC WESTDenver BroncosThe Broncos depth at wide receiver is already being tested. Bennie Fowler, who had been the teams solid No. 3 in training camp, did not play in the season opener because he is still recovering from a fracture near his right elbow.?Demaryius Thomas suffered a hip injury in the win over Carolina that could force him to miss some time. Thomas is being sent for a second opinion on the injury.?Thomas briefly left the game before halftime but did return, though he looked to be laboring at times. If he misses some time, the Broncos will have to adjust how they do things. Emmanuel Sanders will be asked to do more, even as he gets more attention from opposing defenses, and Cody Latimer will have to find a way to get himself more involved in the offense. -- Jeff LegwoldNext game:?vs. Colts, Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ETKansas City ChiefsThe locker room was immediately subdued after Sundays game against the?Chargers, particularly for a team that had had just completed a dramatic comeback. Finally, quarterback Alex Smith, who had been delayed on the field doing a TV interview, entered the room. Only then did the place erupt. Smith was the man of the moment after leading the Chiefs to 30 points in the final 23 minutes and scoring the winning touchdown in overtime of a game that earlier looked lost. Smith might be the man for some time in the Chiefs locker room. The Chiefs had looked to Smith before during his three seasons as their quarterback for that late-game spark, but despite numerous attempts, they had never won a game with a late touchdown. Smith smashed through that barrier on Sunday, guiding the Chiefs to the tying touchdown with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter. Smith scored the game winner himself, on a play he called himself.
