LONDON -- Manchester City used another rampant scoring display to replace Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with a 5-1 win at Tottenham on Wednesday, while Chelsea lost ground in the title race with a 0-0 draw against West Ham. After beating Spurs 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium, Manuel Pellegrinis side was unstoppable at White Hart Lane as well and extended its unbeaten run to 20 matches, in which time they have scored 69 goals. City received a decisive boost when Danny Rose was sent off in the 50th minute for tripping Edin Dzeko. Yaya Toure converted the penalty before Dzeko made it 3-0. Etienne Capoues pulled one back but Stevan Jovetic and Vincent Kompany added gloss to victory. City now leads Arsenal by one point, with Chelsea lagging three points behind. Elsewhere, Sunderland beat Stoke 1-0 and Aston Villa defeated West Bromwich Albion 4-3 in a derby that saw six goals scored in the first half. Since the thrashing at City and the subsequent sacking of coach Andre Villas-Boas, Tim Sherwood had overseen an upturn in fortunes at White Hart Lane, with Spurs undefeated under their new manager and having won their last four Premier League matches. Pellegrinis team was therefore expecting a tougher test at White Hart Lane. They had the better start as the in-form Sergio Aguero went close in the fourth minute with a shot from an angle that hit the post. Aguero looked unstoppable during the first half and put his team in front in the 15th minute, scoring for the eighth successive game when he slipped the ball past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from David Silvas assist. The Argentina strikers header then forced Lloris to a beautiful one-handed save. Unfortunately for City, Aguero picked up an apparent hamstring injury while sprinting for the ball and was replaced by Stevan Jovetic. "We will see tomorrow with the doctor what happened with him, maybe he has a problem with his hamstring, we will see how serious it is," Pellegrini said. "Sergio is a top player but we dont depend on just one player so we hope its the moment where Stevan Jovetic can play and hope that Sergio can join us again as soon as possible." The strikers injury was not a factor as City was awarded a penalty five minute into the second half when Rose was shown a red card for bringing down Dzeko with a tackle from behind. Toure converted by sending Lloris the wrong way. A man down, Tottenham conceded another goal two minutes later, with Dzeko scoring from a rebound after Lloris saved Silvas effort onto the post. Tottenhams Etienne Capoue pulled one back in the 59th from a corner, but Jovetic then found space in the area to beat Lloris and Kompany rounded off a perfect night with a clean finish. At Stamford Bridge, West Ham defended for most of the second half and managed to contain Chelseas assaults to secure an important point in its fight to remain in the top flight next season. Demba Ba hit the post from close range in added time before Hazard missed two consecutive chances and Etoo had a goal disallowed for a foul on Adrian. "They defended with their hearts, I respect that and praise that," Mourinho said. "I dont think with matches like this we can sell Premier League across the world. My team did everything possible." Aston Villa edged West Brom in a prolific West Midlands derby. The Baggies led 2-0 after Chris Brunt opened the scoring and Fabian Delph scored an own goal. But Andreas Weimann lobbed in to pull one back, Leandro Bacuna levelled and Delph made amends to put Villa ahead. Youssuf Mulumbu equalized two minutes before the break before Benteke had the final say when he earned a penalty and slotted the spot kick into the bottom left corner in the 64th. Benteke has now scored three goals in three games, helping Villa establish itself firmly in midtable. West Brom fell to 15th, just three points outside the relegation zone. Adam Johnson scored in the first half to give Sunderland a 1-0 win over 10-man Stoke and lift his team out of the relegation zone for the first time since August. Devin Hester Womens Jersey . It has been eleven years, eight months, and 261 days since I played my last CFL game. Never once in that time have I regretted my decision to retire, nor have I ever wished that I could make a comeback. I dont miss playing football. Three weeks into the 2014 CFL season, I miss the existence of football...or at least the version of the game that Ive spent virtually my entire life watching, playing, and loving. Absent is the fast pace of the game created by the 20-second play clock. In its place are plodding affairs that often exceed three hours in length and are punctuated by penalty flags and instant replay reviews. The superstar players who had drawn me to the sport growing up have been reduced to sharing the spotlight with the men in striped shirts. The captivating chess match between coaches, which used to be about Xs and Os, has instead become about which general is able parlay his complement of replay challenges into the biggest payoff. Perhaps most disturbing to me is the apparent desire to transform football from a "collision sport" into a "contact sport." Im not going to lie, nor am I going to apologize. I crave a certain amount of "controlled violence." I enjoy mixed martial arts, dont mind fighting in hockey, and to be blunt, absolutely love big hits on the gridiron. Those hits, and the inherent physical risk associated with them, are part of football...but, in Week 3, the CFL edged perilously close to dressing quarterbacks in red "non-contact" jerseys like the ones they wear in practice. I appreciate that the relatively new concept of player safety is being taken seriously, however, the fine line between &quuot;player safety in football" and "rugby played in helmets and shoulder pads" has become a little too blurry for my liking.dddddddddddd My complaint isnt with the leagues officials. My beef is with the rules theyre being asked to enforce, the standards to which theyre being asked to enforce them, and a review system that effectively castrates them in terms of exercising judgment. Where the officials used to be asked to enforce the rules, they have now become slaves to those regulations. For me, football has always been about the human element – played by humans, coached by humans, officiated by humans, with opportunities for human excellence and human error creating an awesome 60-minute emotional journey. Rules have always been a necessary part of the game but now they too often overshadow the game. Every physical interaction between players is at risk of being deemed "too physical". The cerebral duel between coaches that takes place over 200 painstakingly conceived plays is becoming irrelevant next to the question of "Should he throw his challenge flag?" Every raw emotional reaction to an officials call loses its edge while the play is reviewed. Its just not the same. Dont get me wrong. The games in Week 3 of the CFL schedule still possessed many of the elements of Canadian football that Ive always enjoyed. Thanks to the drama of Julian Feoli-Gudinos game-winning catch, Adarius Bowmans one-handed touchdown grab, Jock Sanders 121-yard missed field goal return, and Andrew Harris run for the ages, the game being governed by current CFL rules still offers incredibly entertaining moments...but, man, I sure miss football.
