ARLINGTON, Texas -- Kyle Seager had another big game against the Texas Rangers. Seager had three hits, including a home run, to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the Rangers on Saturday night. Seager is hitting .362 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 69 at-bats against the Rangers this season. Overall, the 26-year-old third baseman is hitting .280 with 23 homers and 88 RBIs -- all career highs. "Its kind of all about learning," Seager said. "You learn about yourself. I know what I did wrong at the end of last season. If you do something wrong, you can go back and know how to fix it." Seager hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to tie the score 2-2, and singled and scored in the Mariners two-run eighth against Neal Cotts (2-9). "Hes pretty special," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said of Seager. "Its a nice feeling having him at the plate." Danny Farquhar (2-1) worked two scoreless innings to earn the victory, and Fernando Rodney got the last three outs for his American League-leading 43rd save. Seattle shortstop Brad Miller, who came in with a .205 batting average, had a career-high four hits to help the Mariners move 1 1/2 games ahead of Detroit for the leagues second wild card. The game started following a rain delay of 3 hours, 13 minutes. "Its worth the wait for a lot of reasons," McClendon said. "A doubleheader (Sunday) wouldnt have been good." He said he spent the delay "like everybody else, probably. I ate ice cream." Ryan Rua had an RBI double and scored on Michael Choices sacrifice fly to put the Rangers up 2-0 in the fourth inning. It was the second game for Texas interim manager Tim Bogar, who took over after Ron Washington resigned Friday afternoon. Texas went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position, including 0 for 9 during the first three innings, en route to its eighth straight loss. Seattle starter Chris Young went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits after lasting only two-thirds of an inning on Monday in a 12-7 loss at Oakland. The Dallas native began his big-league career with the Rangers 10 years ago and hasnt beaten Texas in three career starts. "The guys picked me up tonight," Young said. "They came back and swung the bats. It was a great team win." DARVISH DONE: Rangers ace RHP Yu Darvish wont pitch again this season. General manager Jon Daniels said theres no sense in bringing back Darvish, sidelined since Aug. 9 with inflammation near his pitching elbow, to make one or two starts for a team already eliminated from post-season contention. Darvish (10-7) said through an interpreter that hes disappointed that he couldnt pitch the full season but accepted the decision of the clubs medical staff. TRAINERS ROOM Mariners: LF Dustin Ackley left the game in the seventh inning with a jammed left ankle and is day-to-day. Rangers: Texas plans to send INF Jurickson Profar, sidelined since March with a muscle tear in his right shoulder, to the Arizona Fall League. UP NEXT The Mariners will start LHP James Paxton (5-1), who has the second-best ERA through his first 12 career starts (1.77), on Sunday. Hell go against Rangers LHP Derek Holland (0-0), making his first home start of the season and his second overall following knee surgery in January. Cheap Flyers Jerseys . The last team in the NBA that will have any sympathy for the Thunder is the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are showing signs of putting everything together after two years of devastating injuries. That gave the Milwaukee Bucks veteran forward a reason to smile. http://www.cheapflyersjerseys.com/?tag=adidas-chris-nichols-jersey . -- Kenneth Faried made a turnaround hook shot over Draymond Green with a half-second remaining, and the Denver Nuggets made Golden State wait at least one more game to secure a playoff berth with a stunning 100-99 win over the Warriors on Thursday night. Brian Propp Jersey . Perhaps their first trip to the city of Winnipeg in 16 years can serve as the shakeup they need. Ivan Provorov Jersey . Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up.The goal for any major sports franchise is to build a team that can compete for and potentially win a championship. Mission accomplished for the Los Angeles Kings and the Miami Heat. The Kings, who became the first No. 8 seed to win a Stanley Cup when they accomplished the feat in 2012, are one win away from capturing a second title in three years. The Heat, of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh fame, are the two-time defending NBA champions and currently trail the San Antonio Spurs 2-1 in the chase for a third consecutive title. Clearly the two have no problems showing up to the dance. The question is: Which feeat would be more impressive - three straight NBA titles won by the Heat or two of the last three Stanley Cups won by the Kings?
